The country’s most inspiring neighbor, Mister Fred Rogers once said, “All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we’re giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world.” If you feel that you have been called to give your time or money as a donation for others in need, but do not know where to start, why not consider starting in your own backyard? Denton is filled with many amazing charities and organizations that are welcoming any help you can give with open arms.
Here are some local Denton charities that you can give to today.
CASA of Denton County
When a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to help them. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA. The mission of CASA of Denton county is to provide trained community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children and to promote community awareness about child abuse issues. CASA volunteers are screened, highly trained, and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child protection system. These volunteers bring three critical qualities to their work: they focus on one case at a time; they bring a unique perspective to the court case; and their sole objective is representing the best interests of the child.
